Alain Bashung (1 December 1947 – 14 March 2009) was a French singer, songwriter, and actor. He released his first single at the age of 19 in 1966, but it was a flop. Subsequently, he became an arranger for RCA and worked with various French artists. In 1977, he met a producer and a lyricist, and although his first LP with them was unsuccessful, he continued to collaborate with this team. Bashung achieved his first hit in 1980 with the single "Gaby," marking the beginning of his success. Throughout his career, he collaborated with numerous musicians, exploring two main musical directions: one experimental, particularly in the eighties, and the other more rooted in rock and roll. His genius is particularly evident in the lyrics of his songs, characterized by a surreal cascade of wordplay that creates a unique personal alchemy.
