Alain Kremski was a French pianist, composer, and musicologist, born in Paris on April 4, 1940. He was renowned for his expertise in Eastern music traditions, particularly those of India and Tibet. Kremski began studying music at a young age and was influenced by various masters, including Indian sitar player Ravi Shankar and Tibetan lama Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche. Throughout his career, he blended elements of Western classical music with Eastern influences, creating a unique style that incorporated modal scales and rhythms inspired by Indian classical music and Tibetan chants. He composed numerous works for piano and created compositions for a rare collection of sacred Buddhist bowls and gongs from Asia, which were unique in Europe. Kremski also played a significant role in promoting Eastern music in the West through his performances, recordings, and lectures, helping to bridge cultural divides and foster a greater understanding of Eastern musical traditions among Western audiences. He passed away on December 28, 2018, in Paris, leaving behind a legacy of pioneering cross-cultural musical exploration.
