Alan White was a British progressive rock drummer born on June 14, 1949, in Pelton, Co. Durham, England. He passed away on May 26, 2022, in Newcastle, Washington, USA. Throughout the mid to late 1960s, he played with various bands in England and Europe, including The Downbeats, and others that later changed their names. In 1969, he joined Yes, where he recorded singles and albums, including "The Yes Album." He also performed on John Lennon's "Imagine" and worked with George Harrison in his band for several months, followed by a ten-week stint with another band. White joined Yes in late July 1972 and contributed to over 40 studio and live albums, playing drums, percussion, and piano, while also collaborating on songwriting. In 2005, he formed a band and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with Yes in 2017. He was married.
