Aleem is a boogie-funk, R'n'B, and dance music trio formed in New York City. The group consists of identical twin brothers who began their career with covers of songs like "Cry Of Love" and "Rain Bow Bridge," sharing an apartment with Jimi Hendrix. They formed Aleem with a vocalist during the early '80s and initially released dance songs on their own label, including "Hooked On Your Love," "Get Down Friday Night," and "Release Yourself." Their 1985 hit "Confusion" led to a deal with a label, where they released two albums. The twins also worked as producers for various acts and contributed to the NIA label, which became home to notable rappers and helped develop the careers of several MCs. After the label folded, the twins opened their own recording studio in the late '80s.
