Alessandra Pompili is an acclaimed soloist who has performed extensively across Italy, the United Kingdom, Hungary, Iceland, Germany, Poland, and the United States. Notable venues include Teatro Ghione in Rome, St. David’s Hall in Cardiff, the Liszt Museum and Academy in Budapest, Filharmonia Krakowska in Poland, Casa Verdi in Milan, and various cathedrals throughout the UK and the Vatican Museums. A passionate advocate for the works of composers Alan Hovhaness and Sergio Calligaris, Alessandra has premiered several pieces, including Hovhaness’ Sonata Cougar Mountain and Fantasy, as well as Calligaris’ Ave Verum. She has a keen interest in religious music for piano and has performed Liszt’s Via Crucis nearly eighty times across Europe, including the first performance of the solo piano version at the Liszt Museum and Academy. Her recital at the Vatican Museums was recorded live and broadcast by numerous European radio stations during Easter and Holy Week in 2013. Since 2006, Alessandra has been a recording artist for Vatican Radio, featuring works by composers such as Beethoven, Chopin, and Brahms. Her first CD, “Hovhaness: Piano Works,” released by Dynamic, received critical acclaim and was recognized as one of Naxos Critics’ Choice for June 2015.
