Alex North was an American composer born on December 4, 1910, and passed away on September 8, 1991. He is best known for writing the music for "Unchained Melody," which is one of the most recorded songs of the 20th century. Throughout his career, North charted 31 times between 1955 and 2010, with 27 of those entries being for "Unchained Melody."
