Alexander Arpeggio is a Berlin-based DJ and producer, known for founding Mond Musik and Eine Welt. He began his DJing career in 2002, drawing inspiration from New Wave, Italo Disco, and Minimal Synth. His DJ sets weave together a narrative of cosmic, wave, obscure disco, and contemporary electronics. Mond Musik is dedicated to re-releasing and re-editing obscure German productions from the late 70s to early 80s, including works by Papertiger And The Catcammer Orchestra, Eiskalte Engel, and Der Gøtling. Notably, the Gøtling LP was restored and reconstructed from an original tape, with only 50 hand-numbered cassette copies released in 1986. The sub-label Eine Welt showcases emerging talents and aims to foster a community of contemporary producers with a unique approach to dance music, characterized by raw experimental acid, spatial techno, bubbling soundscapes, and fuzzy rhythms. The initial releases will be compilations introducing each artist for the first time. In addition to his production work, Alexander curates the bi-monthly event Club Cosmic at Sameheads, a Berlin institution, which serves as a club version of the summer festival Camp Cosmic. He has also launched a new party series called Cosmic Service in collaboration with Tom Bolas, focusing on both electronic music and eclectic disco.
