Alexandre Desplat (born 23 August 1961 in Paris, France) is a French film composer renowned for his extensive work in film music. He began playing the piano at the age of five and later became proficient in trumpet and flute. Desplat studied in France and the USA, drawing inspiration from South American and African artists and teachers. He has composed scores and incidental music for approximately 100 films, with notable works including "The Painted Veil," "The Queen," "The Beat That My Heart Skipped," and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button." In addition to his film compositions, Desplat has written music for theater, including performances at the Comédie Française. He has shared his expertise by giving Master Classes at La Sorbonne in Paris and at London's Royal College of Music. He is the husband of an unspecified individual.
