Alexis Korner was a British blues musician and radio broadcaster, born on April 19, 1928, in Paris, France, and he passed away on January 1, 1984, in London, England. He traveled with his parents through Switzerland and North Africa before settling in London at the age of 12. Korner grew up listening to early blues pioneers, and his music career as a guitarist and singer began with engagements in various bands. In 1956, Korner met with another musician, and together they founded a blues club in Ealing and the band Blues Incorporated. Their aim was to play 'real' and uncompromising blues, becoming one of the first 'electric British blues' bands and a platform for the careers of several notable musicians. Davis left the band in 1963, and Blues Incorporated disbanded in 1967. In the following years, Korner participated in many short-lived bands. From the late 1960s, he toured often, primarily with a bassist, and collaborated with various artists. By the late 1970s, he gained recognition as a radio DJ and broadcaster, continuing to record sporadically with bands. His 50th birthday all-star concert was released as a recording.
