All City was an American hip hop duo from Brooklyn, New York, consisting of MCs J. Mega and Greg Valentine. The name "All City" is derived from a graffiti term used to describe writers who successfully tagged train lines throughout New York City. The duo formed in 1993 after both rappers performed solo sets at a Lyricist Lounge event and decided to collaborate following a positive fan reaction. They were discovered by the popular hip hop group Onyx and signed a record deal with Onyx's label, Armee Records, which was distributed through MCA Records. All City released their first promo single, “Who Dat” b/w “Metrotheme,” in 1995. That same year, they appeared on Onyx’s sophomore album, All We Got Iz Us, contributing to the track “Getto Mentalitee,” while Valentine also made a solo appearance on “Purse Snatchaz.” Three years later, the duo was featured again on Onyx’s third album, Shut ‘Em Down, on the tracks “Fuck Dat” and “Overshine.” All City’s debut album, Metropolis Gold, was released in late 1998, showcasing production from notable producers like DJ Premier, Pete Rock, Rockwilder, DJ Clark Kent, Fredro Starr of Onyx, Ron “Amen-Ra” Lawrence of The Hitmen, and Dave Atkinson.
