Alphonso Johnson is an American bassist and Chapman Stick player, as well as a composer, born on February 2, 1951, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He began his touring career at the age of seventeen. In 2004, he was appointed as an adjunct associate professor at The University of Southern California.
