Al's Untouchables was formed in 1964 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The band relocated to Los Angeles in 1966, at which point they changed their name to The Orphans. They performed alongside notable acts such as the Dave Clark Five, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, The Everly Brothers, The Doors, and The Turtles. The band’s lineup included Tom Hankins on bass, keyboards, and vocals; Dick Douglas on lead guitar and vocals; Ron Bressler on drums; Jimmy Carroll on rhythm guitar; and Eddy Hood on guitar, bass, and vocals, who joined the band in 1965. Bruce Nunamaker played guitar until he left the band in 1965.
