Altamiro Carrilho was a Brazilian flute player and songwriter, born on December 21, 1924, in Santo Antônio de Pádua, RJ. He is widely regarded as a master flutist and a major representative of the choro genre. Since the 1940s, he has collaborated with many prominent Brazilian artists. He passed away on August 15, 2012, in Rio de Janeiro, RJ. He was the brother and uncle of unnamed individuals.
