Altered Images is a Scottish post-punk pop group formed in Glasgow in 1979. The original lineup consisted of Clare Grogan (vocals), Tony McDaid (guitar), John McElhone (bass), Gerard "Caesar" McInulty (guitar), and Michael "Tich" Anderson (drums). McInulty left in 1981, and Jim McKinven (guitar/keyboards) replaced him. The band soon adopted synthpop stylings, influenced by producers such as Martin Rushent and Mike Chapman. They disbanded in 1983, with Anderson and McKinven having left the previous year. Clare Grogan, who had appeared in the hit film "Gregory's Girl" in 1980, also pursued acting under the name CP Grogan. In December 2021, Altered Images announced the release of their first album in over 38 years, titled "Mascara Streakz," which came out on 26 August 2022 and reached the UK Top 30. The album features tracks co-written with Texas member John McElhone, the band's original bass player, and was recorded with Bobby Bluebell from the Bluebells and Bernard Butler, formerly of Suede and McAlmont & Butler.
