Alton Miller, a Detroit native, grew up immersed in the rich musical landscape of the 1970s, influenced by the sounds of Motown, Philadelphia, Parliament-Funkadelic, and Santana. In the early '80s, driven by a passion for dance music, he began spinning records, inspired by Chicago DJs. By the late '80s, Miller co-founded the legendary Music Institute with George Baker, a pivotal venue in the techno scene. After the club's closure, he explored Conga drumming while touring the world from 1989 to 1991. He later collaborated with Derrick May, initially working for May's record label and performing as Aphrodisiac, under which he released music. His work included releases on Transmat's sublabel and Kevin Saunderson's label, along with a series of EPs. By the mid to late '90s, Miller solidified his presence in Detroit's music scene through DJ performances and acclaimed releases. His debut album for Distance was well-received, and his current album, 'Stories Of Bohemia,' showcases a blend of jazz-influenced soulful house with African and roots music elements. In 2015, Miller revitalized his label InnerMuse Recordings with the release of 'Whereabouts Known.'
