Alvaro Sandi, known as "Santini," was a Brazilian trombonist and composer born in 1862. He served as the director of harmony at the Sociedade Dançante Carnavalesca Ninho do Amor before leaving the club in 1913 to join the rancho Flor do Abacate. As the musical director of Flor do Abacate, he led the orchestra during carnaval, which featured prominent musicians of the time, including the young saxophonist Romeu Silva. In 1915, Sandi composed a polka that solidified both the rancho's name and his own legacy in the choro genre, inspiring the creation of a choro group called "Flor de Abacate." He passed away in 1919.
