Amadou Balaké, born Amadou Traoré on March 8, 1944, was a renowned singer from Burkina Faso who passed away on August 27, 2014. With a career spanning over 50 years, he recorded and performed across West Africa, as well as in New York and Paris. In the early 21st century, he was a member of the Senegalese salsa band Africando. His music uniquely blended various traditions from his homeland, particularly Dioula (Mandé) and Mossi, along with Afro-Cuban influences.
