Amadou Balaké, born Amadou Traoré on March 8, 1944, was a renowned singer from Burkina Faso who passed away on August 27, 2014. With a career spanning over 50 years, he recorded and performed across various regions of West Africa, as well as in New York and Paris. In the early 21st century, he was part of the Senegalese salsa band Africando. His music uniquely blended traditions from his native Burkina Faso, primarily Dioula (Mandé) and Mossi, with Afro-Cuban influences.
