Amanda Palmer (born April 30, 1976) is an American performer, director, composer, and musician who gained prominence as the lead singer, keyboardist, and songwriter of a musical group. In 2008, she released her first solo album, and her main instrument is the piano, with the ukulele being a close second. In 2012, she released a project that was completely funded by her supporters, which became the top crowd-funded music project and reached the Billboard Top Ten. In late 2014, she published her best-selling memoir, detailing her artistic perspectives and personal experiences as a street performer. In March 2015, she began using Patreon as her primary source of income and a means of direct communication with her fans and community. Her 2019 solo album and its accompanying tour explored themes of life, death, abortion, and miscarriage. Palmer was married to writer Neil Gaiman from 2011 to 2022 and has one child, Anthony “Ash” Palmer Gaiman.
