Amayenge is a band from Zambia that initially gained prominence in the late 1970s, originally known by a different name. They rose to fame with their Kalindula music style. The band's leader, Chris Chali, managed to keep the group together despite losing members to death or their pursuit of other opportunities. By 2003, Amayenge had recorded their 28th album. Unfortunately, shortly after this recording, Chris Chali fell ill and passed away. Following his death, the band continued under the leadership of Chris Chali's widow, Alice Chali, and Fraser Chilembo, demonstrating their resilience and commitment to their music.
