The Ambassadors were a 1960s soul vocal group hailing from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The original lineup included Benny Speller, Johnny Johnson, Herley Johnson, Calven Todd, and Bobby Todd. Formed in the mid-1960s, they quickly garnered attention from a co-owner and popular Philly radio star. Despite limited success with three singles released between late 1967 and summer 1968, they signed to a label and are best remembered for their hit "I Really Love You," which came out in 1969. Their sole album has become a highly sought-after item, building a myth of a holy grail among northern soul enthusiasts. Three members of the Ambassadors later formed another group.
