Amelinha, born Amelia Claudia Garcia Colares on July 21, 1950, in Fortaleza, is a renowned Brazilian singer and songwriter. She began her career in the 1970s alongside fellow Ceará artists such as Fagner, Belchior, and Ednardo, collectively known as "The People of Ceará." In 1970, she moved to São Paulo to study communication and started her musical journey by touring with her friend Fagner. Her professional music career took off in 1974, leading to appearances on television programs. In 1975, she traveled to Punta del Este, Uruguay, with Vinicius de Moraes and Toquinho. Two years later, she released the album "Flor da Paisagem," produced by Fagner, which earned her recognition as a rising star in MPB (Música Popular Brasileira). In 1979, Amelinha achieved significant success with her gold record LP "Frevo." The year 1980 marked a pivotal moment in her career when she gained acclaim for the song "Foi Deus Que Fez Você," composed by Luiz Ramalho for the MPB 80 Festival, where it ranked No. 2 and sold over a million CDs, topping FM and AM radio charts.
