Anastácia is an American singer and songwriter born on September 17, 1968, in Chicago, Illinois. She has achieved significant success in Europe, Asia, South Africa, and South America, though her impact in the United States has been less pronounced. Describing her sound as 'sprock', a blend of soul, pop, and rock, she released her debut album, Not That Kind, in 2000, which garnered multi-platinum sales in Australia, New Zealand, and much of Europe. This success led to her being critically acclaimed and recognized as the 'Best-selling International Artist' at the World Music Awards in 2000. Following her debut, Anastacia's next two albums continued her multi-platinum success across Europe, making her one of the fastest and biggest-selling artists of the new millennium. By 2005, she was celebrated for worldwide sales exceeding 20 million. Known for her powerful soul voice and her small stature of 5 feet 3 inches (160 cm), she earned the nickname "The Little Lady with the Big Voice." Anastacia is also recognized for her trademark darkly tinted glasses, which she continued to wear even after undergoing laser eye surgery in August 2005.
