André Brasseur is a Belgian organist and keyboard player, born on December 11, 1939, in Ham-sur-Sambre, Belgium. He has released numerous albums and singles in Belgium, but is internationally recognized for his double A-sided single "The Kid / Holiday," released on the CBS label in the UK. Although it did not chart in the UK, "The Kid" gained popularity at the Northern Soul venue The Twisted Wheel in Manchester, while DJ Noel Edmonds used "Holiday" as the theme tune for his Radio 1 program in the 1970s. Additionally, DJ Lex Harding featured "The Kid" as the opening sequence for his daily afternoon broadcast on the Dutch pirate radio station Radio Veronica. Brasseur is also well-known for his 1965 instrumental single "Early Bird," named after the satellite launched that year, which sold over 6 million copies worldwide. In the late 1960s, his tune "Big Fat Spiritual" was used as a theme song on French radio Europe 1. In the late 2010s, he experienced a resurgence in popularity among Belgian youth, culminating in a massive performance at a festival in 2018.
