Andre Williams, known as "Mr. Rhythm," was an American R&B musician born on November 1, 1936, in Bessemer, Alabama. He began his career in the 1950s at Fortune Records in Detroit, where he recorded numerous songs, including his most famous hits "Jail Bait," "Greasy Chicken," "Bacon Fat" (1957), and "Cadillac Jack" (1966). Williams was also a co-author of the R&B hit "Shake a Tail Feather" and had writing credits on over 200 songs, such as "Pig Snoots," "Pass The Biscuits," "Rib Tips," and "The Greasy Chicken." Throughout his career, he became known for his risqué style and worked as a producer and songwriter, creating tunes like "Funky Judge" and "Twine Time." However, by the 1980s, Williams struggled with drug addiction and homelessness. After overcoming these challenges, he resumed his music career in the late 1990s, releasing albums such as "Greasy," "Silky," and "The Black Godfather." He also performed under various aliases. Andre Williams passed away on March 17, 2019, in Chicago, Illinois.
