Andrzej Dobrowolski (Lwów, Ukraine, September 9, 1921 - Graz, Austria, August 8, 1990) was a Polish composer. He studied organ with Rutkowski, singing with Belina-Skupiewski, clarinet with Kurkiewicz, and composition with Malawski from 1945 to 1951, alongside theory with Łobaczewska. In 1947, he began teaching at the State Higher School for Music in Kraków, Poland. In 1976, he moved to Graz to become a professor of composition at the Hochschule für Musik. Dobrowolski served as the general secretary of the Polish Composers' Union for many years and played a significant role in the Polish Radio electronic music studio in Warsaw. While electro-acoustic works were not the dominant form of his artistic expression, he explored various musical genres. His symphonic music often incorporated "electronic" sounds, breaking traditional conventions of orchestral sound structure.
