Anelis Assumpção is a Brazilian singer-songwriter known for her sultry vocals and innovative arrangements that blend dub, afrobeat, and Brazilian grooves. Born in Penha, a district of São Paulo, she is the daughter of a renowned singer and composer, embodying the free-spirited essence of São Paulo's avant-garde and inheriting much of her father's originality. Anelis began her career at 18, providing backing vocals in her father's band and being part of a group with other musicians. In 2007, she transitioned to performing as a solo artist. The licensing of copyrights on her father's works allowed her to secure the necessary resources to record her debut album in 2011.
