Angel Parra (born 27 June 1943, Valparaíso, Chile - died 11 March 2017, Paris, France) was a Chilean singer and songwriter, known for his contributions to the Nueva Canción movement. He was the son of folklorist Luis Cereceda and began singing at the age of five, performing the repertoire of famous artists. At ten, he started playing the Guitarrón after being inspired by Chilean maestro Isaiah Angulo. In the late 1950s, he released a mini-album with the group "Los Norteños" and a collection titled "Four Chileans Carols." In 1965, he recorded his first solo album, marking the beginning of a prolific career in music, collaborating with various artists. Following Pinochet's coup d'état in 1973, he traveled abroad to help preserve the Nueva Canción tradition within Chilean exiled communities across Europe, North America, and Australia. He was the father of notable individuals and the brother of another prominent figure.
