Angélica Vázquez is a harp player from Spain, currently based in Oporto, Portugal. She studied under Maria Rosa Calvo-Manzano in Spain, Carrol McLaughlin in the United States, and Ernestine Stoop in Holland. Angélica specializes in experimental music, new music, and live improvisation. As a soloist, she has performed in the United States and Europe, collaborating with composers such as Takayuki Rai, Anne La Berge, Richard Barret, and Joseph Waters, as well as improvisers like Butch Morris, Evan Parker, Han Bennink, and Michael Moore. She has played with symphony orchestras including the Filarmonía Symphony Orchestra, the Radio Television Symphony Orchestra from Spain, the Arizona University Symphony Orchestra, and the Casa da Música Symphony Orchestra from Porto. Additionally, she has worked with contemporary music ensembles like Insomnio, Modelo 62, BrokkenFabriek, and Remix. Angélica holds a Bachelor's degree from the Royal Conservatory of Madrid, a Master's in contemporary harp, and a NAIP Music Master for New Audiences and Innovative Practice from The Royal Conservatory of The Hague. Currently, she serves as a harp professor at the Oporto Conservatory of Music, directs the project Female Effects, and is a member of the RPM Electro Travelling Band in Holland and the Vertixe Sonora Ensemble in Spain.
