Anne Linnet is a Danish singer, guitarist, keyboardist, songwriter, composer, and author, born on July 30, 1953, in Åbyhøj, Aarhus. A pioneer in female rock, she has enjoyed a highly acclaimed career in Denmark spanning over five decades. Linnet began her career as a folk musician in 1969 and was part of a band from 1971 to 1976 with her then-husband. She released her debut album in 1973 and founded the all-female band Shit & Chanel that same year, collaborating with various artists. After Shit & Chanel disbanded in 1979, she formed another band with other musicians. In 1983, she established a new wave band that released three albums before breaking up in 1988, only to reunite in 2002 for a new album. In 1994-1995, while living in Rome, Linnet composed a chamber opera that was performed at the Thorvaldsen Museum in 1996. The opera tells the story of the sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen on his Roman birthday. In 1997, she founded her second all-female band and has released two popular albums featuring lyrics by Danish writer Benny Andersen, along with three albums for Danish musicals. In 2022, she released a collection of 50 songs written between 2003 and 2022 that did not fit into any previous releases. L
