Anne Murray is a Canadian singer born on June 20, 1945, in Springhill, Nova Scotia. She is known for her contributions to pop, country, and adult contemporary music, with over 54 million albums sold worldwide. Murray made history as the first Canadian female solo artist to reach #1 on the U.S. charts and earned a Gold record for her signature song, "Snowbird," in 1970. She is recognized for paving the way for other Canadian artists like Céline Dion, Sarah McLachlan, and Shania Twain. In 1983, she became the first woman and the first Canadian to win Album of the Year at the Country Music Association Awards for her album "A Little Good News." Throughout her career, Murray has received numerous accolades, including four Grammy Awards, 24 Juno Awards (the most awarded to any artist), three American Music Awards, three Country Music Association Awards, and three Canadian Country Music Association Awards. She has been inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame, the Juno Hall of Fame, The Songwriters Hall of Fame, and the Hit Parade Hall of Fame. Additionally, she is honored on the Country Music Hall of Fame Walkway of Stars in Nashville, as well as on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles and Canada's Walk of Fame in Toronto.
