Annie Anxiety Bandez is a chanteuse, lyricist, multimedia artist, and post-modern cabaret queen known for her long and eclectic recording career. Born in New York, she initially had no intention of pursuing a career in the arts, taking on various jobs and traveling across the continent until she found herself on stage at the legendary Max’s Kansas City, leading the atonal and rhythmically savage band Asexuals at just 16 years old. After a chance meeting with Steve Ignorant from the band Crass, she traveled to the United Kingdom for what was meant to be a two-week visit but ended up staying for over a decade. Throughout her career, Annie has collaborated with a diverse array of artists and bands, including Wolfgang Press, Crass, the ON-U Sound stable, Kid Congo Powers, Current 93, Nurse With Wound, Bim Sherman, Coil, Fini Tribe, and Collapsed Lung. She has consistently defied genre boundaries, exploring a wide spectrum of musical styles from jazz and reggae to hip-hop, torch, and avant-garde.
