Annie Lennox is a Scottish singer, songwriter, political activist, and philanthropist, born on December 25, 1954, in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, UK. She gained moderate success in the late 1970s as part of a new wave band before achieving major international success in the 1980s with her bandmate, Dave Stewart, as Eurythmics. Lennox embarked on a solo career in 1992. In recognition of her contributions, she was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 2011. At the 2015 Ivor Novello Awards, she became the first female to be honored as a fellow of the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers, and Authors. In 2020, Lennox and Stewart were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and in November 2022, they were enshrined into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as Eurythmics.
