Anita Koutsouveli, known as Kassiani, was born in Athens and hailed from Mani and Zakynthos. She graduated from the Drama School of the Athens Conservatory on a scholarship and continued her studies in psychology at the University of Houston for two years. Her artistic endeavors in New York absorbed her completely, and she spent six years at the Actors Studio collaborating with its members on excerpts from theatrical repertoire. In parallel, she studied singing, classical dance, and African dance. Kassiani had a passion for poetry from a young age, publishing six poetry collections and two film scripts titled "The Bus of Love" and "Last July." She starred in the American film "The Song and the Silence," considered one of the fifteen best films in American cinema by The New York Times and Variety. However, when the film participated in the Thessaloniki Festival, it was excluded from awards as "out of competition." Kassiani sang modern songs, wrote lyrics, and composed her music. She recorded the progressive single "Chloe is Waiting," a poem she wrote about her mother's early passing, and was characterized as a rare cult figure. Her songs faced censorship as "dangerous" and were withdrawn. She later released the album "I Prefer" and recently prepared a CD titled "Hello and Good Day, Friend." On television, she collaborated on several comedy series, including "Dikastina," "Koutsobolides," "Two Hours Together," and "Bakouria."
