**Anthrax Biography** Anthrax is a thrash metal band formed in 1981 in New York City by Scott Ian and Danny Lilker. Initially, both Ian and Lilker played guitar, but after several line-up changes, Lilker transitioned to bass. By 1983, the band's lineup solidified with Ian, Lilker, Neil Turbin (vocals), Dan Spitz (guitar), and Charlie Benante (drums). They recorded their first 7" release, featuring "Soldiers Of Metal" and a demo version of "Howling Furies." In 1984, Anthrax released their first LP, "Fistful Of Metal." Shortly after, Lilker and Turbin were replaced by Frank Bello and Joey Belladonna, respectively. This lineup recorded four LPs and two EPs from 1985 to 1991, achieving significant success in the thrash metal scene. Notable releases during this period include the 1987 single "I'm The Man" and a collaboration with Public Enemy on "Bring The Noise" in 1991. In 1992, Anthrax parted ways with Belladonna and brought in John Bush as the new vocalist. The band shifted towards an alternative rock sound with the release of "The Sound Of White Noise," which received critical acclaim. Throughout the late 1990s, the band faced commercial challenges, and Dan Spitz left after touring. In 1999, Anthrax released the greatest hits album
