Anti-Pop Consortium was an innovative underground hip hop crew that emerged in the late 1990s. Formed in the fall of 1997, the group consisted of three vocalists—High Priest, Beans, and M. Sayyid—who came from the New York street poetry scene, along with producer Earl Blaize. After releasing a series of cassette-only projects and underground singles, they debuted with the album "Tragic Epilogue" in 2000, released by Ark 75. Their music uniquely merged hip hop and IDM, leading to a signing with the avant-garde electronic label Warp Records in 2001. Under Warp, they released the EP "The Ends Against The Middle" and their second album, "Arrhythmia," in 2002. The group temporarily disbanded in August 2002 to explore individual projects but reunited in August 2007.
