Antipop Consortium was an innovative underground hip hop collective that emerged in the late 1990s. Formed in the fall of 1997, the group consisted of three vocalists—High Priest, Beans, and M. Sayyid—who hailed from the New York street poetry scene, along with producer Earl Blaize. They began their journey with a series of cassette-only releases on their own label and various underground singles. In 2000, the Ark 75 label released their debut album, "Tragic Epilogue." Their unique sound blended hip hop with IDM, which led to a signing with the avant-garde electronic label Warp Records in 2001. Under Warp, they released the EP "The Ends Against The Middle" and their second album, "Arrhythmia," in 2002. The group took a hiatus in August 2002 to explore other projects but reformed in August 2007.
