Antonín Dvořák was a Czech composer known for his romantic music, characterized by a synthesis of classicism and romanticism. He was born on September 8, 1841, in Nelahozeves, which was part of the Austrian Empire and is now in the Czech Republic. Dvořák passed away on May 1, 1904, in Prague, then part of Austria-Hungary, now also in the Czech Republic. He was influenced by the folk music of Moravia and his native Bohemia, and his extensive body of work includes symphonies, symphonic poems, concerti, choral works, operas, and chamber music.
