Antonio Infantino (1939–2018) was an Italian musician, poet, and anthropologist from Tricarico, Basilicata, best known as the founder and leader of I Tarantolati di Tricarico. Deeply rooted in the traditions of Southern Italy, his work revived and reinvented ancient folk and tarantella rhythms, blending them with contemporary sounds and poetic experimentation. Through I Tarantolati di Tricarico, Infantino explored themes of ritual, identity, and collective memory, earning recognition as a pioneering voice in Italian folk revival and ethno-musical research.
