Antonio Carlos, known simply as Tom Jobim, was a Brazilian songwriter, composer, arranger, singer, pianist, and guitarist. He was born on January 25, 1927, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and passed away on December 8, 1994, in New York City, New York, USA, at the age of 67. Jobim is considered the primary force behind the creation of the Bossa Nova style of Brazilian music, and his songs have been performed by numerous singers and instrumentalists both in Brazil and around the world. He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1991. Jobim is also recognized as the father of two notable figures in music.
