Antônio Carlos Jobim, known simply as Tom Jobim, was a Brazilian songwriter, composer, arranger, singer, pianist, and guitarist. Born on January 25, 1927, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, he is considered the primary force behind the creation of the Bossa Nova style of Brazilian music. His songs have been performed by many singers and instrumentalists both within Brazil and around the world. Jobim was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1991. He passed away on December 8, 1994, in New York City, New York, USA, at the age of 67.
