Aqua is a Danish/Norwegian Eurodance-pop group formed in 1995 in Denmark. They are best known for their 1997 breakthrough single "Barbie Girl" and achieved significant global success in the late 1990s with their debut album "Aquarium" and early 2000s with their second album "Aquarius". Aqua holds the record as the best-selling Danish band, with around 33 million records sold. The group disbanded in July 2001 but reunited in October 2007, announcing a new tour in 2008 along with a compilation. In June 2009, they released "Greatest Hits," which included three new songs. In 2011, Aqua released their third studio album "Megalomania," marking a shift from their earlier bubblegum pop and eurodance style to a more mature electropop and dance-pop sound. In 2018, Aqua returned as a trio, minus Claus Norreen, with their single "Rookie" and has since conducted numerous tours.
