Archaïa is a French rock band formed in 1976 by Pierrick Le Bras and Michel Munier, who were inspired by the music of Magma. The band's aim was to explore a different musical path, focusing on percussions without using drums, while fully utilizing guitar and keyboard. The core of their sound is built on Munier’s deep bass oscillations, which combine with Le Bras’ guitar and Philippe Bersan’s eerie keyboard work. In 1978, Archaïa expanded their lineup by adding drummer Patrick Renard for live performances, which resulted in a more driving sound that leaned closer to traditional progressive rock, while still retaining their enigmatic style. This evolution is reflected in two of the three bonus tracks included in the CD reissue of Soleil Zeuhl.
