Archie Bell & The Drells were a soul vocal group from Houston, Texas, active from 1967 to 1980. The group was formed by Archie Bell while he was in high school. They gained attention with their first local hit "Tighten Up," which led to a contract in 1967. The original lineup included Archie Bell, L.C. Watts, and Cornelius Fuller. In 1969, they began a successful career. After the group disbanded, Archie Bell released a solo album. Despite the breakup, the group continued to perform. During the 1990s, the lineup featured Steve "Stevie G." Guettler (guitar, vocals), Jeff "JT" Strickler (bass guitar, vocals), Steve Farrell (guitar, vocals), Mike Wilson (keyboards, vocals), and Wes Armstrong (drums, vocals). They released three albums and four singles during their career.
