Archie Bell and the Drells were a soul vocal group hailing from Houston, Texas. Active from 1967 to 1980, they initially formed while Archie Bell was in high school. Their first local hit, "Tighten Up," led to a contract in 1967. The original lineup included Archie Bell, L.C. Watts, and Cornelius Fuller. In 1969, they embarked on a successful career. After disbanding, Archie Bell released a solo album. Despite the breakup, the group continued to perform. In the 1990s, the lineup featured Steve "Stevie G." Guettler on guitar and vocals, Jeff "JT" Strickler on bass guitar and vocals, Steve Farrell on guitar and vocals, Mike Wilson on keyboards and vocals, and Wes Armstrong on drums and vocals.
