Aretha Franklin was an American singer, pianist, and songwriter, born on March 25, 1942, in Memphis, Tennessee. She passed away on August 16, 2018, in Detroit, Michigan, at the age of 76. Widely regarded as one of the best female vocalists of all time, she earned the nickname 'Queen of Soul' and is often simply referred to as 'Aretha'. In 1987, she made history as the first woman to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a Performer. Aretha was the daughter of a prominent figure in her life and had siblings, including Vaughn Franklin and Reverend C. L. Franklin, who served as her business manager until his death in 1990. She was a mother to four sons: one from Donald Burk, Edward Franklin from Edward Jordan, one known as Teddy when she was married to another individual, and a Christian rap artist from a different relationship. Her last husband was not specified, and she was also a cousin of another notable figure.
