Ariel Kalma was a French new-age composer and musician born in Paris in 1947. He was known for his unique blend of rhythms, melodies, and grooves from various cultures, incorporating ambient atmospheres, modal music, native instruments, and elements of nature. Kalma skillfully mixed traditional sounds with modern arrangements, utilizing electronica and special effects. He was particularly noted for his use of circular breathing techniques on wind instruments and didgeridoo, as well as creating original sounds with synthesizers. His music represented a synthesis of East and West, merging classical and jazzy elements in a simple and natural manner, effectively dissolving contradictions. Ariel Kalma passed away in June 2025.
