Ariwo is a Cuban/Iranian quartet that explores the intersection of electronic and Afro-Cuban folkloric music. The band combines the energetic essence of Cuban rumba with the deep melancholy of Iranian electronic music. The name "Ariwo," meaning "Noise" in Yoruba, reflects the band's focus on sound and its mission to merge traditional rhythms into live electronic performances that challenge perceptions of ancestral music and connect diverse cultures. The ensemble consists of Iranian electronic composer Pouya Ehsaei and three prominent Cuban musicians from London: Oreste Noda, Yelfris Valdes, and Latin Grammy winner Hammadi Valdes. Pouya processes their live instruments, creating soundscapes and hypnotic rhythms influenced by the folkloric music of Cuba and his native Tehran.
