Armando Pibe Arauz

Armando Pibe Arauz is an Ecuadorian guitarist, bassist, and composer of paternal German heritage, born in Guayaquil. He became a member of the trio Los Campiranos at the age of 11 and later founded the trio Montecel-Aráuz. Arauz studied at the Conservatorio Nacional Antonio Neumane for five years, where he learned guitar and contrabass. He played in various tropical orchestras until 1957 when he founded his own group. Arauz was a pioneer of the electric guitar in Ecuador and one of the first to record Ecuadorian music using it.
