Armando Trovajoli (born September 2, 1917, Rome, Italy - died February 27, 2013, Rome, Italy) was an Italian film composer and pianist, credited with over 300 compositions and conducting works. He learned to play the violin as a child, showcasing remarkable musical talent. In 1937, he joined Rocco Grasso's orchestra, and by 1939, he was performing with one of Italy's renowned jazz bands. After World War II, he resumed his musical career, balancing jazz and light music. Trovajoli graduated in piano and composition from Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome in 1948. The following year, he represented Italy at the Festival du Jazz de Paris, performing with notable musicians. He began a series of recordings titled "Musica per i vostri sogni" and collaborated on radio shows that showcased jazz piano with a string orchestra. He also gained success as a popular songwriter under a pseudonym. In 1952, he wrote music for the film "Anna," where the song "El Negro Zumbon" became a worldwide hit. That same year, he performed Gershwin's music as a concert pianist in Naples and Rome. Trovajoli wrote music for the film "Due notti con Cleopatra" in 1953 and directed the orchestra at the Festival della canzone di Sanremo, a role he repeated in 1957.
